About Dr. Shannon E. Perry
Dr. Shannon E. Perry is Professor Emerita from the School of Nursing, San Francisco State University. She served as Coordinator of the Child and Adolescent Development Program in the Marian Wright Edelman Institute. She has accompanied groups of students to the United Kingdom and Ireland on several occasions, to Ghana, Italy, China and Thailand.
Dr. Perry’s doctorate is in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Child Development; her clinical specialty is maternal-newborn nursing. She has taught maternity nursing and child and adolescent development courses. She is co-author of three maternity nursing textbooks and numerous articles on maternal-child topics as well as legal aspects of nursing and the nurse as an expert witness.
Dr. Perry is a member of Arizona Nurses Association, the American Academy of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, AWHONN, National League for Nursing, American Association for the History of Nursing, various alumni associations, and the Oregon-California Trail Association.
